The Research Genetic Cancer Centre in Florina, Greece, has developed a method of measuring around 18 markers (depending on if you are male or female) that are produced very early on in the development of tumour.
A cancer may not be detected by conventional screening processes until it is about the size of a cherry but these markers may be produced when a tumour is only 2-3mm in size. Whilst this is a conventional, scientific test it is not generally available to the public as it is principally used in research centres.
The test is yet to be ratified by long-term studies but is considered a potential test for screening for cancer even though, as it’s name suggests, it is currently and predominantly used more in monitoring treatment.

This is the term currently given to a blood test that looks at specific genes and whether they are active or not. It may be more accurate to call this test “EnviroGenomics” as the test looks not only at nutritional influences on our genes but also at chemical pollutants, heavy metals, the benefits of certain natural supplements and herbs and many other factors.
Disease, even if it is hereditary, is rarely only down to our genes. Our genes are now known to interact with our environment and either switch on or off protective or damaging behaviour depending on what we take in. NutriGenomics is the exciting development of research following on from the Human Genome Project in 2003.
NutriGenomic testing can allow us to interpret what lifestyle changes, nutrients and medication may be of benefit to you as an individual. There is still some controversy as long-term studies have not yet been compiled but these results in conjunction with an understanding of an individual’s general health allows the doctors at The Diagnostic Clinic to comment what might be best for your health.

The body actively kills off cancer cells that are formed n most of us most of the time. These abnormal cells are attached by many different immune systems in the body but predominantly specific white blood cells known as T-cells and Natural Killer cells.
The activity of these two sub-sets of defence cells produce compounds when they are active and measuring these can tell us about the effectiveness of our own tumour immunity.

The Diagnostic Clinic’s Cancer Risk Screens and tests use careful assessment of lifestyle and family history in combination with a range of investigations to assess immune system anti-cancer function, genetic-environmental interaction risks as well as using tests that may potentially isolate the presence of cancer sooner than current conventional tests.
This comprehensive Cancer Risk and Detection Screen test combines the Minimal Residual Disease Profile with Immunogenomics and the Tumour Immunity Profile.
The results have to be reviewed by one of our specialists who will prepare a full report. Depending on the results it may be necessary to discuss the findings with the patient in a follow-up consultation. This would include assessing the need for the consideration of treatment and an onward referral to an oncologist if necessary, of course.
The screen comprises a urine test and a comprehensive blood test. This can be done at The Diagnostic Clinic anytime Monday – Thursday 9:00 – 17:00. Coming on a walk-in basis is not recommended as there are specific logistics that need to be in place in preparation. We recommend booking a 45 minute slot with one of our nurses in advance by ringing reception on +44 (0)207 009 4650.
Please be aware that there might be certain requirements e.g. fasting over night, stopping certain supplements and non-essential medications a few days prior to the test etc that should be discussed with one of our health screen advisors prior to booking the screen.

The Diagnostic Clinic is one of the leading centres for establishing underlying cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome by utilising pioneering studies and tests to look for nutritional deficiencies and toxic material that may be interfering with mitochondrial function. Many people struggle with unacceptable tiredness unrelated to their lifestyle known as “Tired All the Time” (TATT) or Chronic Fatigue. The orthodox world has only recently accepted the existence of a condition such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) preferring to refer such cases, often unsympathetically referred to as “heart-sink” patients, to psychiatrists. Recent research has, however, established a disease process known as mitochondrial dysfunction that could be the main underlying cause of TATT and CFS.The Diagnostic Clinic combines Mitochondrial Translocator Protein Site Studies with DNA Adducts tests to assess toxic adherence to cell structures and a Nutritional Analysis looking at nutrients essential for mitochondrial function: Vitamin B3, Magnesium, Selenium, Zinc and Coenzyme Q10. Due to the complexity of this sort of screen it is best combined with a specific New Patient consultation with one of the Integrated Physicians who can explain the results of the tests and specifically help one devise a treatment programme. But even without a consultation the results are interpreted by an Integrated Physician here at The Diagnostic Clinic who will provide a summary of the tests which can then be utilised by the individual or their primary practitioner to derive lifestyle, nutritional and dietetic, detoxification and supplemental therapeutic programmes. The screen comprises of a variety of comprehensive blood tests. This can be done at The Diagnostic Clinic anytime Monday – Thursday 9:00 – 18:00. Come into TDC on a walk-in basis is usually fine, however to avoid waiting time during busy hours we recommend booking a 15 minute slot with one of our nurses in advance by ringing reception. Please be aware that there might be certain requirements e.g. stopping certain supplements and non-essential medications for a few days prior to the test that should be discussed with one of our health screen advisors prior to booking a screen.
