Men's Health

Sexually transmitted disease has and will probably continue to be one of the biggest plights towards the health of both men and women.

Sensible precautions such as the use of condoms cannot be more highly recommended. Sexual health check-ups are also of vital importance, not only for the individual, but for society as a whole.

Our professionally performed and discretely reported Men’s Health Screens search for the more common sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, Syphilis and Gonorrhoea. There are also STD's that can create problems with fertility such as Chlamydia, and potentially sinister Hepatitis B etc. Herpes whilst rarely a serious disease process, can be distressing both physically and mentally and can easily be transmitted can be added to our routine broad screen.

Some tests and screens can be arranged without seeing a doctor; however patients with previous or existing medical conditions or uncertain symptoms, we recommend an initial consultation or short phone consultation* with one of our doctors first to determine which test/screen is most suitable for you.

* 10 – 15 minute phone consultation charged at a fixed rate

3. Male STD (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) Screen

The Diagnostic Clinic offers tests for common and potentially serious sexually transmitted infections. Unprotected intercourse runs the risk of transmitting infections and we specifically look for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C as well as HIV. Both male and female profile’s routinely look for Herpes as well.

Requirements are a urine sample and a blood test .

This can be done at The Diagnostic Clinic anytime Monday – Friday 9:00 – 17:00.

TDC offers 'walk-in' services, however to avoid waiting time during busy hours we recommend booking a 30 minute slot with one of our nurses in advance by ringing reception on +44 (0)207 009 4650.

Good practice requires that we explain in person the consequences of abnormal results and that a consent form is signed.  This takes approximately 5 minutes pre-testing.

Results will be reported by phone by a doctor. Depending on the results it may be necessary to ask a patient to come in for a follow up consultation lasting 30 minutes or alternatively we will ask them to attend their GP to whom we will then send the result. If your GP deals with the result then there is no further charge.
