Nutrition in food today

These natural nutritional supplements have been formulated to help many people, ranging from those who struggle to keep their weight down, through to athletes and other physically active people looking to improve their performance, energy levels or muscle development.

It is ironic that, at a time when the range of foods available in the shops has never been greater, the nutritional value of food may never have been lower.

After decades of over-farming, the nutritional content of soil has been severely depleted (official figures suggest by around 85%). Add to this the fact that many foods, even organic produce, are grown under artificial lights, may never see any soil (hydroponic farming) or are plucked before ripening and it is easy to see why the nutritional value of food is far from what it once was, and a fraction of what it is generally believed to be.

Between this and the rapid growth of processed and convenience foods in diets today, our nutritional intake can easily fall far short of what we need for optimum health.

Any deficiency can be significant. There are clear links between malnutrition (deficiencies in the essential vitamins and minerals) and a wide range of health problems.

Indeed most diseases could be argued to be caused, influenced or affected by deficiencies in vitamins and minerals. Ranging from age related diseases like Osteoporosis and arthritis ( calcium deficiency in bones and minerals in bones and cartilage), through immune system weakness (Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C, zinc and others) to heart and artery disease ( a lack of antioxidants, Vitamins A, Co Q 10, selenium) and even cancer ( fibre, certain amino acids and the antioxidants again).

For these reasons many people, including the majority of nutritionists and doctors, take supplements on a daily basis. There is a wide range available on the High Street, though unfortunately, these chemical isolate products are not in a format which the body can extract much nutritional value from. Only Natural Food-State format supplements can effectively deliver their nutritional content.
